Hey there,

Welcome to the issue #1 of extendo newsletter - your weekly dose of chrome extension news.

I plan to write short and concise mails - hopefully, you'll enjoy reading this weeks issue as much as I enjoyed writing it to you.

Move this email to your primary inbox, so you don't miss the newsletter and it doesn't land in promotional emails.

If there's something that interests you and you want to talk about then don’t hesitate to reach out, I'm just a message away.

Cheers,Fardeen

The Toolbox 🧰

Similar Sites makes it super easy to find alternatives to the sites you're visiting, it also provides estimate details of monthly visitors to a site, ranking in category, etc.,

I've been using it to find alternatives to sites I like and the fact that it shows other statistics too is amazing (though the numbers cannot always be trusted)

Simplify Gmail is a browser extension that boosts productivity, strengthens privacy, and reduces️ stress. It blocks over 250+ spy trackers, dark mode support, keyboard shortcuts and so much more, created by Michael Leggett

I've come across this very recently, I'm yet to try but it looks pretty clean and will give it a go this week. I personally admire founders who're ethical and it seems that the founder is a big privacy advocate after working at both google and facebook.

🔔 Notyfy

All your web notifications in one place as a browser extension. No login required and lightweight solution that should work even on your old gen windows xp, created by Simon Wicki

This is an extension I've been using for more than 2 weeks now, I'm yet to find a proper workflow to fit this into but I guess I found a good solution recently - more on this in the next tool in the list.

Nudge saves you from wasting time online with smart, beautiful interventions inspired by psychology - this tool right here is game changer, by Louis Barclay.

Nudge blocks sites you've asked it to block, it stops autoplay on youtube, let's you see the time you're spending on a site, it also reminds you if you're scrolling endlessly.

Now, If you combine Notyfy + Nudge - that's gonna be my workflow for an intentional time spent on the internet. I don't visit the sites (Thanks to nudge) and still get to see if something important is on the block (Thanks to notyfy).

Story of the week 🎉

A freemium browser extension for taking screenshots of an entire webpage and comes with editing tools at premium pricing being $1/month, by Peter Coles

According to Indie Hackers, they make around $10k/month and have a user base of over 5 Million - I know that the numbers don't make sense but I suspect it was originally meant to be hobby project which is why they didn't monetize it earlier.

Shockingly, It came out in 2012 when I wouldn't even have known what chrome could be!

How old were you when you discovered chrome extension is a thing?

You can always write to me if you have any suggestions or feedback @fardeenxyz or simply reply to this email.

Have a great weekend ✌️
